Recruiter/Staffing Coordinator— Akron

United Disability Services has a full-time position open for a Recruiter/Staffing Coordinator. This position is responsible for all facets of successful employee staffing activities throughout the Agency including recruitment, interviewing, selection and onboarding. This will be achieved by employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, creative recruiting ideas. This position performs confidential personnel duties under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources.

The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and able to work independently and in cooperation with others, and have the ability to effectively speak with individuals and small groups. Candidate should also possess strong organizational, time-management and computer skills.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent work experience in place of degree. Previous professional recruiting experience preferred. General knowledge of various employment law and practices. BCI; references and physical w/drug screen required.

Personal Care Coordinator/Aide— SociAbilities (Akron)

United Disability Services, an accredited, social service agency, has a full-time Personal Care Coordinator / Aide position available.

The general duties of this direct care position is to be responsible for the supervision of consumers and coordinating the personal care activities and Habilitation Aide staff within the program. The position works in collaboration with other staff members in meeting the personal care needs of the consumers. Must be able to create and update schedules, applies logistics of breaktime, lunchtime and transportation arrivals/departures to staff directives and routines. Communicates with management staff and vendors of transportation and temporary services to ensure smooth logistical scheduling. Knowledge and experience to work with adult intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) population. Must have the ability to assess and assist consumers with their personal care needs in a way that preserves their right to privacy and dignity; experience with lifting transfers, feeding and urological equipment preferred and ensures their health/safety. Program Sub— Adult Services

United Disability Services has a full-time Program Sub position opening in our Adult Services Department serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position will be trained to work in all areas and all locations within Adult Services, including Akron, Kent and Twinsburg, and will fill vacancies due to absences. These positions are an instructor/trainer role and will be directly involved in instruction, training and supervision and personal care of consumers.

Experience preferred in lifting, feeding and working with adults with developmental disabilities, but not required. Training will be provided. Requirements include proof of HS/GED; BCI; references and physical w/drug screen. College in related field helpful. 

These positions will include an additional $1.00 per hour premium at start as well as the opportunity to earn additional one-time base salary increases of $.25 per hour at intervals of 6 months and 1 year. Consumer Outreach Specialist

United Disability Services is looking for enthusiastic, friendly and compassionate people to serve as our Consumer Outreach Specialists! Our dedicated staff focuses on promoting social inclusion, self-determination, and maintaining the health & safety of our individuals.

Our Consumer Outreach Specialists primary goal is to accompany adults with disabilities in the community. This is a part time position in our Residential Program that mainly consists of afternoons, evenings and weekends.

Duties include:

  • Attending free outings as donated tickets come in (plays, sporting events, concerts)
  • Transporting to medical appointments
  • Enjoying recreational outings together such as going to the movies, local fairs and shopping malls
  • Preparing meals and going out to restaurants
  • Money management/banking
  • Running various errands such as grocery shopping and assisting with laundry
  • Personal care

 Candidate Qualifications:

  • Must have High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license
  • 5 years driving experience with good driving record
  • Required level of driving insurance
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Successful clearance of background check and physical w/ drug screen

The ideal candidate will be dependable and flexible, with the ability to think critically and use independent judgment in decision-making situations. Detailed report writing and effective interpersonal communication to teach and role model positive work skills and behaviors to participants.

HS diploma or equivalent required. College degree and/or at least two years’ experience working with people with disabilities in a vocational setting preferred. Must be available to work a daytime shift Monday through Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) about 20 hours per week. Must pass a background check and physical w/drug screen. Must have 5 years driving experience with a proven safe driving record. Hourly pay commensurate with experience.
