Residential Program Supervisor

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the management of a caseload involving Foster Care Settings, Semi-independent Living Settings, In-Home Support Settings, Emergencies and Respite. This position plans/coordinates community integration activities. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of our Consumer Outreach Specialists, along with the oversight of independent contractors. 

Knowledge of and the ability to work with the youth and adult ID/DD population. Understanding of residential options, interventions, community integration and behavior management.  Must feel comfortable assisting consumers with medical and personal needs. Recruit, hire, train, monitor and provide oversight of independent contractors according to the agency policies, procedures and standards. Ensure that independent contractors acquire and maintain certification and home inspections.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS Degree in related field. 2-3 years previous experience working with adults with ID/DD.  Previous supervisory experience preferred. Possessed a valid driver’s licenses for 5 years and a proven safe driving record (no more than two citations or two points in the past two years). BCI; references and physical w/drug screen required.

Habilitation Aide— Kent

United Disability Services has a Habilitation Aide position available at our Kent facility. This is a direct care position that serves adults with developmental disabilities, and is responsible for assisting consumers with all personal needs. Hours worked are Mon-Fri, no evenings.

Employment Trainer— Summit County (Part-time)

United Disability Services currently has 2 part-time positions (approximately 20 hours per week) training and supervising adults with disabilities at places of work throughout the community. Employment Trainers work on short term assignments (1 to 4 weeks) one-on-one with different clients in the community, teaching various job skills. 

The ideal candidate will be dependable and flexible, with the ability to think critically and use independent judgment in decision-making situations. Detailed report writing and effective interpersonal communication to teach and role model positive work skills and behaviors to participants. HS diploma or equivalent required. College degree and/or at least two years’ experience working with people with disabilities in a vocational setting preferred. Must be available to work a daytime shift Monday through Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) about 20 hours per week. Must pass a background check and physical w/drug screen. Must have 5 years driving experience with a proven safe driving record. Hourly pay commensurate with experience.

Clients served by this position are independent and capable of self-care. Program Sub— Adult Services

United Disability Services has a full-time Program Sub position opening in our Adult Services Department serving adults with developmental disabilities. This position will be trained to work in all areas and all locations within Adult Services, including Akron, Kent and Twinsburg, and will fill vacancies due to absences.  These positions are an instructor/trainer role and will be directly involved in instruction, training and supervision and personal care of consumers.

Experience preferred in lifting, feeding and working with adults with developmental disabilities, but not required.  Training will be provided.  Requirements include proof of HS/GED; BCI; references and physical w/drug screen. College in related field helpful. 

These positions will include an additional $1.00 per hour premium at start as well as incumbents in this position will have the opportunity to earn additional one-time base salary increases of $.25 per hour at intervals of 6 months and 1 year.  Exceptional benefits are available to include health, paid vacation, sick leave, and retirement plan.

Science Teacher— The Steel Academy

The UDS Steel Academy is a free public, nonprofit 501(c)(3), community school focusing on students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, gifted students or any student with learning differences by maximizing their educational experience through the integration of academics with the visual and performing arts. The school offers fully accredited academic program serving students in grades 6-12.  

The UDS Steel Academy has a full-time position available for a Teacher teaching students in Science in a charter school at the middle and high school level. This position supports, observes and records the progress of students assigned to a classroom; plans lessons in line with national objectives with the aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning; keeps up to date with developments in designated subject area, new resources, methods and national objectives; and liaisons with other professionals, parents and guardians.
