BraVo! hosts pancake breakfast for local charity

The agency's BraVo! volunteers recently sponsored a pancake breakfast that raised nearly $500 for benefit Ronald McDonald House in Akron. Read more here.
Ronald McDonald House of Akron has been a home away from home for families of patients being treated at Akron Children's Hospital for the past 25 years. It provides a comfortable place to sleep, hot meals and support a reasonable cost to families.
The breakfast was the third in a planned series of quarterly, proactive community service projects to benefit organizations of special interest as voted on by the participants of the program. Members of the BraVo! team participate in all aspects of the planning and and implementation of these events.
They have also raised money through a pulled pork luncheon for Leader Dogs for the Blind and a bake sale for Share Our Strength, a national organization working to make sure that no child in Americia grows up hungry. The next fund raiser will be a food drive for the Akron-Canton Foodbank. To date the BraVo! team has raised $1,500 through its efforts.
BraVo!, which stands for Building Relationships and Volunteer Opportunities, consists of individuals with disabilities interested in giving back to their communities through volunteer service.
Its 35 members have provided more than 18,000 volunteer hours for approximately 30 organizations during the past three years.
