How You Can Help

Your generous contribution can make an important difference in the life of someone with a disability. United Disability Services provides several meaningful ways for you to contribute to the programs and services we offer to individuals with disabilities and caregivers.
Online
For your convenience, you may donate online using your MasterCard, Visa or Discover. All transactions conducted on our website are encrypted using a secure service to protect your privacy. Click here to donate online.
Send cash or check donations to:
United Disability Services
Attn: Community Relations
701 S. Main St.
Akron, OH 44311-1019
Phone
If you prefer to donate by credit card by phone, call 330.762.9755, ext. 222. A member of our Community Relations staff will gladly accept your donation.
Planned Giving
A variety of planned giving options enable you to plan for your future and that of your family. By providing meaningful support for the future of United Disability Services and the people that we serve, you may save tax dollars in the process.
There are a number of ways to donate through Planned Giving:- Name UDS in your will
- Establish a charitable trust naming UDS as a beneficiary
- Naming UDS as owner and beneficiary of a paid-up life insurance policy
To learn more about Planned Giving, contact your financial advisor or attorney and then call UDS at 330.762.9755, ext. 222
Stocks
Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Contact your financial advisor to determine if donating your stock to UDS is the right option for you.
Matching Gifts
You can make your charitable gift stretch even farther with a matching gift from your employer. Corporate matching gift programs give employees an opportunity to increase the impact of their tax-deductible gifts. Contact your human resources department to see if your company has a matching gift program and how you can participate.
In-kind Donations
United Disability Services gladly accepts in-kind donations, but, due to limited storage, we are unable to accept donations of large durable medical equipment. This includes electric wheelchairs unless we have been made aware of an already existing need through one of our programs. If you have an item you would like to donate, contact us to see if we are able to accept it at this time.
Hire Someone with a Disability
There are many reasons why a company should consider hiring someone with a disability. Beyond creating goodwill in the community and giving people a chance to demonstrate their ability, your company may be eligible for government tax credits. Contact the Community Employment Department at 330.762.9755 for more information.
Provide Work for Our Workshop
Many companies choose to outsource projects by using one of our workshops in Akron, Kent or Twinsburg. Our in-house services include packaging, sub-assembly, reclaiming, collating and sorting. Contact the agency’s procurement specialist at 330.762.9755 for more information.
