It’s here! National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) kicked off on October 1.
Held annually, NDEAM is a fitting time to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The 2018 NDEAM theme is “America’s Workforce: Empowering All.”
NDEAM is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), but its true spirit lies in the many observances held at the grassroots level across the nation every year. Here at United Disability Services (UDS), staff and visitors will see NDEAM posters hanging in various parts of the agency. UDS Community Employment Services (CES) staff are delivering Buckeye Baskets and NDEAM posters to employers who hire individuals through UDS as a thank you for their continued commitment to a diverse workforce. Human resource managers at companies throughout Summit and Wayne counties are receiving information about how UDS’ Community Employment Services can help support companies in their diversity hiring.
Here at UDS, we all play a role in advocating for fostering a more inclusive workforce, one where every person is recognized for his or her abilities—every day of every month.
