    About United Disability Services
    United Disability Services (UDS) is a mission-driven organization located in Akron, Ohio, dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through high-quality programs, compassionate support and community inclusion. We are seeking a mission and purpose‑centered President/CEO to lead our organization into its next chapter of impact and innovation.

    Position Summary
    Reporting to the UDS Board of Directors, the President/CEO will oversee all facets of the organization, including programs and services, finance, human resources, collective bargaining, contractors, and relationships with community partners and funding sources consistent with the mission statement, strategic plan and budget. Reporting to the President/CEO are the Vice President of Program Services, Director of Adult Day Services, Director of Development, Director of Communications, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Human Resources, Director of Transportation, Director of Low Vision Services and Executive Assistant.

    Position Description
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement a strategic plan that will guide the organization in achieving operational and financial goals.
    • Effectively communicate the organization’s mission and vision to employees, funders, clients and community partners.
    • Oversee the organization’s financial health, including budget development and financial planning.
    • Develop and implement fundraising activities and events to ensure ongoing support for the organization.
    • Direct programs and services which meet the needs of our clients and community. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.
    • Represent the organization in all liaison meetings and activities with local, state and federal agencies and advocate for our clients.
    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and local legislation that may impact the organization and its clients.
    • Serve as the staff representative to the Board, actively attending and participating in all Board and Committee meetings.
    • Develop and recommend policies, procedures and other matters of governance of the organization to the Board of Directors.
    • Serve as the official spokesperson for the organization in public forums, media and community events. Build partnerships within the community and advocate for the organization’s mission and clients.
    • Develop and direct staff to ensure a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Develop and maintain an organizational culture that supports a highly engaged workforce.
    • Direct the maintenance of facilities and equipment. Oversee the proposal and execution of capital projects.

    Education and Other Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, education, human services or a related field.
    • Proven operational leadership, including ability to oversee general administration of programs, services, finance, personnel, collective bargaining and facilities.
    • Several years with progressive, high-level management experience at nonprofit or for-profit organizations.
    • Results driven. Successfully managed a team of high-level managers. Strong business and financial acumen. Ability to create and manage budgets and serve as a financial steward.
    • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to listen. Ability to actively communicate personally and in public settings with diverse audiences.
    • Proven fundraiser and influential advocate for the organization.
    • Knowledge or experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly in the developmental disabilities field and/or vocational rehabilitation.
    • One full year of full-time (or the equivalent part-time) paid work experience in providing services for individuals with developmental disabilities, which included responsibility for personnel matters, supervision of employees, programs and services, and financial management.

  • Direct Support Professional I

    As a DSP, you will fulfill an instructor/trainer role and be directly involved in the instruction, training, and supervision of the individuals served, while assisting with personal care as needed. You will be helping the individuals served to learn and develop the skills needed to be included in the community.

    Position Summary

    UDS is seeking a dependable and compassionate Full‑Time Driver to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring safe, reliable transportation for individuals with disabilities, helping them access programs and services, and community opportunities.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    The Full‑Time Driver safely operates agency vehicles (up to 25 feet in length with a capacity of up to 15 passengers) and provides courteous, attentive assistance to passengers as needed. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, patience, and a genuine understanding and respect for the diverse needs of the individuals we serve.

    This position is perfect for someone who values safety, enjoys working with people and wants to make a positive impact on their community every day.
