UPDATE: Construction has been POSTPONED until early 2019. We will be sure to keep you updated on future traffic patterns.
This Friday, November 2nd, the Ohio Dept. of Transportation will temporarily shut down the intersection of S. Broadway and Thornton St. in all directions. The map below indicates how you will be able to approach UDS from the north (e.g., from High St.). During the closure, our block of Broadway, between Bartges and Thornton, will be two-way. From High St. you will turn left onto Bartges, right onto Broadway, and right into UDS. Upon completion of the work, Broadway will return to one-way traffic. The closure is expected to last 14 days, unless delayed by weather.
During this time, the westbound exit from I-76 to Main/Broadway will also be closed. A detour will be posted to use Rt. 59, Dart Ave. From Dart, you will be able to turn right on Thornton and left on Main St. to get to UDS. Detour signs will also be posted for thru-traffic on Thornton St.
One bit of good news: The construction plan includes installation of a left-turn arrow from eastbound Thornton onto Broadway. If that is your route as a result of the new patterns on Main St., I’m sure you will find this to be a welcome addition.
